Batman: Arkham Origins Whitegate

What went wrong people. Developed by Armature Studio and Published by Warner Bros. I give you the no.3 most lack luster game of 2014 aka Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. Blackgate is a side scrolling version you could say of the Arkham series that really just didn't work. Not to discredit it for the things it did right but there is just too much that doesn't work to call this a good or above standard game. Opinion, opinion, opinion.

The game seems like a good formula after the previous titles success. The only thing wrong is that they have tried to recreate that winning formula on a side scrolling world. What i'm getting at is that the game looks fine, sounds fine but it doesn't feel fine. This is because with the side scrolling factor you don't have the same fluent fighting system, the world doesn't seem as full and finished, you cant really get into the story as much, characters have the same voices but not the same characteristics that we want and need. Its overall a pizza delivered without the toppings.

To the titles credit the game was never meant to be as good as the previous titles a more smaller sub-series, it's still a good game if you didn't have to compare it to the other Arkham games and it did receive a lot less tender loving care when it comes to fine tuning. Maybe if it wasn't a smaller game and it had more time to be designed/developed into what it would've been more people would actually buy and like it. Please companies work for that extra budget to make these games great instead of good.

To summarize Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate is the unwanted little brother of the Arkham series. The game is good enough to be one of the most popular side scrolling games in the market just because of its reputable name but otherwise is a bit underwhelming when you try and compare it's game mechanics to that of a proper Arkham game. Too straightforward, not enough working features, not enough story work, more time and effort please.

B for Budget people
