Shape Up and Ship Out

How does one make a fun video game where you CAN possibly lose weight. Only the developers and publishers from Ubisoft would know. It's an arcade style exercise game in which you progress through different game modes which are supposed to be fun or more enjoyable versions of actually workouts. It's an okay concept with great design and a very accurate system for picking up movement. I would have to say even if it's not one of the better game's it is probably the best weight loss game that there is.

As I said before it's an arcade style game with very bright flashy arcade everything, which means it doesn't exactly look very realistic or "nice" but it is definitely pleasing to the eye. As for bugs or glitches there is a few but most of them draw back to the kinect which cannot be helped too much apart form that talking about actual in game bugs there is very little thanks to the game being arcade style. Lets lose some weight boys!

But the main problem I'm thinking of right now which draws back to my previous sentence is the game genre doesn't appeal or sell very well with the audience it is marketing too. What I mean by that is no gamer wants to spend spend the time they have for video games playing a fitness game and I'm pretty sure that there won't be many occasions where said gamer would play it with their friends. In all honesty I think it'll be a game you buy, play once and love, then never play again. Ever. So until the gaming community changes no game like this is going to do well,

To mash this into one short paragraph for you, Shape Up is well designed, has a good art style, believable voice acting, a real sense pf achievement and most of all the capability to help the average Joe get fit. A good game with good intentions but just not the correct audience.
